Fridthjofur Thorsteinsson designs lighting for live performance (e.g. theatre, dance, opera.), event, fashion, buildings etc and occasionally programmes for other lighting designers. He also gets involved on other levels (produce, conceive, organise), but visual design and -dramaturgy is his speciality. He has also been a consultant at Theatre Projects Consultants, working with architects, engineers and other clients to design the world’s greatest performance buildings.
Hi studies include Performance lighting design at the Central School of Speech and Drama (B.A. Hons 2009) and Performance design and practice at Central St. Martin’s College of Arts and Design (M.A. 2013). These, along with his work, have taken him to various places; around the UK and Ireland, to Iceland, around Europe, to India, Bermuda and New York. Furthermore Theatre Projects’ work covers the world; over 1300 venues in over 60 countries in over 50 years of history. Combined they make for a diverse experience, in his life and work.
In education, he has mentored B.A. students at Central, Guilford, AUB and St. Martins, held workshops on lighting design in Iceland and taught Vectorworks to lighting departments and individuals.
